Frequently Asked Questions
What will I be doing in the class?
- Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.
Do I need to know how to bake?
- Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!
What will we learn in class?
- You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class!
Here’s everything that you get with a class ticket:
- Each class comes with 6 large cookies we’ll decorate (perfect for beginners or people with more experience!)
- 4 icings bags with fun colors ( take the leftovers home, too!)
- Step-by-step instructions throughout class
- To-go boxes to transport your creations home
- Q&A with Icing Tips, Tricks, and Dough 101
- My own recipes for the best sugar cookies & royal icing
- Complimentary Goody Bag
- $10 drink voucher (Trail Distilling only)
What will I bring home?
- By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 – 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an email with a list of the tools we used in class, along with the class PowerPoint, so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!
Bring the family, make it outing with friends, or come alone and make new friends!

Things to Bring
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
- Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
- Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
- Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they’re also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.

Showing Symptoms After 3 Days Out:
For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 3-day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll give you a credit for the next class or a future order!
You Don’t Show Up Or Email Prior To Class:
If we do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, we won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit regardless if you’re sick. So please reach out to us if you’re feeling sick before class starts!
DIY / Add-On Kits
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you’ll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you’ll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible – ideally in the first week after you’ve taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
Allergen Disclaimer / Class Cancelation Policy / Weather Policy / Fees Disclaimer
Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: Milk, Eggs, Flour
Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Peanuts, tree nuts
Please consider your allergies before registering.
Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your fees.
Classes with attendance below 6 will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 3 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.
Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!
Castiron Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Castiron does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund minus the Castiron fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Castiron keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
